New Learning

New learning should focus on what really matters and happen over time, not be quick or easy fixes.

Teachers need time and help from experts to learn deeply and make real changes.

Don’t use one-size-fits-all programs—teachers should work together to learn what fits their students best.

Plan New Learning and Action

  • Find professional learning resources or experts on boys’ literacy and motivation.

  • Collaborate with teachers to design lessons or activities incorporating new formats and more student choice.

  • Establish ways to involve whānau, especially fathers, in literacy activities.

  • Provide teachers with time and support to try these approaches and share what’s working.
